19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

The win also signifies he has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
